Description

Tagua, the Chacoan peccaries in their natural environment inhabit exclusively the Gran Chaco – low forests located only in parts of the territories of Bolivia, Argentina and Paraguay. Already at the time of discovery, it was a very rare species, and the situation in nature is continuously deteriorating. Subsequent Chaco fragments are turned into soybean crops and pastures, and the tagua population has already dropped well below 5,000 individuals.
